From 22 to 25 March 2026, the Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID), in cooperation with Slow Food Macedonia, organized the activity “Field Visits to FoodLabs” in Skopje and its surroundings within the framework of the FOODPrint Project.
The activity brought together around 50 young people and representatives of partner organizations from North Macedonia, Greece, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, and the Netherlands, creating a space for intercultural exchange, learning, and discussion around sustainable food systems and responsible consumption.
The programme combined practical experiences, educational sessions, and field visits focused on sustainable food production, food waste reduction, and support for local producers.

The first day of the activity was held at the Youth Center Matichno in Skopje and included an introductory workshop on sustainable food production, food waste, and the principles of the Slow Food movement. Participants also took part in a practical Slow Food Disco Soup activity, during which they visited local markets and collected fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be discarded due to their appearance. The collected food was later used in a collective cooking session and discussion on food waste, carbon footprint, and sustainable food choices.

The second day was dedicated to field visits to two local Slow Food farms near Skopje — “Kozi Mleko Planina” in Raštak and “Kamnik Bio Organic” in the Kamnik area. Participants had the opportunity to meet local producers, learn more about sustainable and small-scale food production, explore the farms, and discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by local farmers.
The visits also included tastings of local and seasonal food products, allowing participants to directly experience the value of locally produced food and the importance of supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
Through interactive discussions and hands-on experiences, the activity encouraged young people to reflect on their food consumption habits and their environmental impact, while promoting responsible consumption and active citizenship.
